Our mate Don is out in ‘Nam working as a motorcycle tour guide and wants us to know about this amazing and under-publicised rally that’s now in its third year.
This year’s event runs from 8-22 April and is in aid of the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation, which works to prevent the trafficking of vulnerable children. In previous years, they have raised over $100,000!
The route follows the infamous Ho Chi Minh Trail from Hanoi for a total of 1,500 km. It takes 14 days, riding on classic Ural 650s but with front disc brakes, modern electrics and comfortable suspension, ideal for the mixture of rough terrain that the rally covers. Passing through high mountain passes, jungle trails, rice fields and spectacular lakes and coastlines, it takes in many sites of historic interest from ancient temples to the poignant reminders of the recent conflict.
