We just did the border crawl 6 day tour. It was phenomenal. We saw magnificent scenery, had a great ride and ate like Kings. Being in my mid 60’s the idea of riding a Soviet made bike in the northern reaches of Vietnam had vast historical meaning to me. This is a tour for those who do not like tours, me. It is more like riding with guys who know the land and where to go. For motorcycle/history lovers this is the best. The people we met, the places we saw will be in our memories for ever. A couple of suggestions if you are doing this great adventure: i wanted a Ural but they were short, so i took the smaller bike, glad i did! also, the accommodations are 5 star most of the time. For me, the one night we stayed it a dormitory style home-stay where we were given mats to sleep on the floor in a big room full of people was not for my aging bones, so i simple went to a near by hotel… this is a personal choice.. and only one of the nights all the rest were exceptional. i highly recommend this tour.
